PROGRAM NOTES
Around 1986, Presser was asked by a foreign publisher if they had short student-level pieces for alto saxophone and piano. There wasn't much to choose from, so I transcribed a song I'd previously written to a friend's lyrics, "I Wish That I Could Sing to You Tonight," which is how the catchy Country feel led to a little recital piece with easy fingering and a bit of syncopation.
