PROGRAM NOTES
Can't Find My Way Home is one of Steve Winwood's classic songs, written for the band Blind Faith, featuring Winwood and Eric Clapton. SEVEN DAYDREAMS is a freeish set of variations on the song's distinctive chord changes and bass line, along with Winwood's characteristic minor-pentatonic blues vocal phrasings.

SEVEN DAYDREAMS falls somewhere between my previous In A Deep Funk and Dolphy's improvisations on God Bless the Child, both in concept and performance style. I wrote it for myself, as a way to keep me practicing.

Daydreams 1-4 and 6 may be most effective played like transcriptions of an improvisation, with whatever flexibility you feel to make it your own spotlight. Daydreams 5 and 7 may benefit from a more literal interpretation to make the most of the ostinatos and abrupt contrasts built into those sections.
