PROGRAM NOTES
Can't Find My Way Home is one of Steve Winwood's classic songs, written for the band Blind Faith, featuring Winwood and Eric Clapton. With its distinctive chord progression and a melody typical of blues vocals, I started using this song for my own free-form practice and improvisation, with a warning to myself to keep it this way to practice spontaneity, and to not write anything down or build a set of variations. That phase lasted at least several days. The resulting SEVEN DAYDREAMS falls somewhere between my previous In A Deep Funk and Dolphy's improvisations on God Bless the Child, both in concept and performance style.

PERFORMANCE NOTES
Daydreams 1-4 and 6 may be most effective played like transcriptions of an improvisation, with whatever flexibility you feel to make it your own spotlight. Daydreams 5 and 7 may benefit from a more literal interpretation to make the most of the ostinatos and abrupt contrasts built into those sections.
